Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Cups Sour Cream
  • 1 Pkg Leek Soup Mix
  • 1 Pkg Frozen Spinach
  • 2-3 Oz Water Chestnuts
  • 1 Round Sourdough Bread

Instructions

  • Thaw the Spinach. Then drain spinach of all extra water. You may have to squeeze it out. I use a sieve, or a strainer/colander with small holes to help.
  • Mix Spinach, Mayo, Sour Cream, and Leek Soup Mix together in a bowl.
  • Dice up the water chestnuts and mix in.
  • Cut the top off the sourdough, and cut the middle of the bread out. Cut up the middle part, and add the spinach dip into the bread bowl and serve.

Notes

Several notes to this recipe. I personally don’t like water chestnuts. So I don’t add too many in, but other people like them, so basically half a can works great for everyone. It’s about 2-3 oz, as a can is 5oz.
You don’t have to make the sourdough into a bread bowl if you don’t want, that’s more for presentation purposes. We normally just leave the spinach dip in the bowl we mixed it in, and cut up the entire sourdough round and then dip that.
Also, it’s not needed, but you can chill the spinach dip over night. Some say it makes it better, some say they don’t notice. It’s perfectly fine to eat right away like I’m doing now, or chill and serve later. It’s all up to you!
